The Humane Society of Genesee County has been closed since March, due to the Stay Home, Stay Safe executive order. Although our doors will remain closed, we will begin offering virtual adoptions and surrender services beginning Monday, June 1st. This new process will help to ensure the safety of both our staff and adopters.
If you see a pet on the website you are interested in adopting, please call the shelter at 810.275.0436 to schedule an appointment. We are social distancing and taking extra safety precautions, so appointments are limited and may fill up quickly.
Please note we are not allowing general visitors in the shelter at this time. If you would like to adopt a pet, please call to make an appointment.
If you have an animal you need to surrender, please call 810.275.0435 to make an appointment with our Surrender Department. Again, only those with an appointment will be allowed in the facility.
Donations continue to be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off outside the main entrance of the shelter.
Thank you for your patience as we make these temporary changes to our operations. Please watch for continuing updates through email, social media, and the website.
We are proud to share with you our first-ever annual report. Inside these pages, you will find the stories of people like you who have stepped up to answer the call of animals in need. Sharing the HSGC financial information with you is important, and that is why we are including the breakdown of the annual budget and how funds are spent. You will also find stories and statistics in this report on the number of volunteers, how may cruelty complaints are handled, and the number of surgeries performed that help control the pet population in the county.
You'd be surprised at how far we can stretch a dollar.
